It has come to that time of year again, where there is the smell of homemade cookies, the colours red and green are plastered everywhere and Christmas lights decorate whatever they can. The Christmas trees have been set up and the shopping was either left to the last minute or spread out over December. Everyone's Christmas story is different, therefore, it provides a special experience for each and every person. That is the special essence of Christmas.
Christmas day has formed an unspoken tradition in my family, with my brother never wanting to get up on Christmas morning (or any other morning for that matter), me bounding down into my parents room as if I was 5 years old, and my parents laughing at my extreme excitement. However, to me Christmas is more than just receiving presents. My excitement each Christmas morning is not towards receiving any presents, but it is towards giving the presents that I have carefully thought about and brought for each of my family members. Sometimes I will even be thinking of family members Christmas gifts as soon as their birthday has passed. I am known for spending way too much at Christmas time, but I can't help myself! It's Christmas and everyone deserves to be spoilt!
Family is the key to making Christmas special. It's uncanny to have a Christmas day without family in my opinion, whether it’s just your household family or extended family. Christmas should be spent with the ones you love, and so today I managed to see family on both sides of my parents. It's a priority in my eyes; family comes first, especially on Christmas day.
And so, I hope your Christmas was filled with joy, love and excitement.
