Each year brings a new beginning; a fresh start. For some unknown reason there seemed to be a collective disapproval towards how 2016 panned out for everyone. Therefore, in 2017, we all have a chance to make things right. Of course it is practically impossible for everything to go right in one year. We must have failed moments in order to learn, grow and have further successes.
In 2017 I have begun a book which is titled ‘Reflect’. It’s a three-year process where every date has a different question or prompt. For example, May 15 has the prompt ‘I can’t stop thinking about…’. Then, in 2017, 2018 and 2019 on May 15 I will write a short response to this prompt. It will allow me to see the progress of where I was at last year and how much has changed between now and then.
On January 1st, the question was ‘What is one of your New Years Resolutions?’ Now most New Years resolutions are broken and forgotten about by the end of January. The typical responses include ‘to start eating healthy’ or ‘to start going to the gym’ but my 2017 New Years Resolution is a little different. In response to this question from my Reflect book I wrote –
“To remove the toxicity in my life and to surround myself with only happiness”
2017 doesn’t have to be a year where you conquer the world, where you push yourself to almost impossible limits. It just needs to be a year where you are happy with yourself, your decisions and the world that is around you.
